What are Infections of Urinary Organs?

In the development of chronic renal failure, urinary tract infections are an important reason. What is more, they are a major factor of illness.

The urethra is shorter in females and anal openings and the urethral are closer together. For that reason, females are more susceptible to urinary tract infections than are males. The incidence of infection improves immediately with aging in both sexes and sexual activity.

According to the infected organ, infections of the urinary tract are given name. The named urethritis is equal to an infection of the urethra. And cystitis is an involvement of the urinary bladder. From other part of the urinary tract, cystitis is often a secondary infection.

On one hand, glomerulonephritis is inflammation of the glomeruli. On the other hand, nephritis is inflammation of the kidney tissue. Cos antibodies produced against streptococci bacteria can yield an autoimmune inflammation in the glomeruli, glomerulonephritis is usually proceded by an upper respiratory tract infection. In the development of chronic renal failure and renal diseases, this inflammation might permanently alter the glomeruli.

For instance, from an enlarged prostate or a renal stone in a male, any interference with the normal flow of urine, leads to the development of pyelitis and stagnation of urine in the renal pelvis.

An inflammation of the renal pelvis is pyelitis. A more inflammation of the renal pelvis is pyelonephritis, which involving the calyces, the tubules of the nephron within one or two kidneys and the the renal pelvis.

Both pyelonephritis and pyelitis are result from bacterial invasion from the lower urinary tract.
